Frequently Asked Questions

Ordering and Shipping

Orders can be placed by contacting us directly by phone or email, or through one of our authorized distributors. Use our Find a Distributor page to locate your nearest dealer.

We currently ship throughout the United States and Canada. For international shipping inquiries please contact us directly.

Standard orders typically ship within 3-5 business days. Special order items such as custom gear ratios or horsepower configurations may require additional 2-3 days. Expedited shipping is available upon request.

Yes. For large commercial orders or multiple unit purchases we can arrange freight shipping. Contact us for a freight quote.

Bottom Reels

We recommend number 4 wire for lengths less than 10 feet and number 2 wire for lengths greater than 10 feet. Using undersized wire will cause voltage drop and reduce reel performance.

The standard plastic spool holds 3500 feet of 3/64 inch stainless steel cable. For monofilament or spectra fiber lines we recommend upgrading to the aluminum spool option.

The reel draws 19 amps under minimum loading and up to 60 amps under heavy loads. Ensure your vessel electrical system can handle peak demand before installation.

Yes. An electric conversion kit is available for the manual bottom reel and can be easily installed in the field.

Trap Haulers

For most blue crab applications we recommend the Electric Pot Hauler with a 3/4 HP motor and 30:1 gear ratio or the Sidewinder Pot Hauler with a 30:1 gear ratio. These are our stocked standard models optimized for blue crab trap sizes and depths.

The Sidewinder is designed for small boats and shallow water applications. Its 18-degree sheave angle eliminates shimming problems and its compact aluminum housing makes it ideal for vessels where space is limited. The standard vertical pot hauler is better suited for larger vessels with boom mounting.

A 12 GPM pump with a 50/50 flow divider will run up to 8 hydraulic reels simultaneously. For single reel applications a smaller pump may suffice — contact us with your vessel specifications for a recommendation.

Model selection depends on your target species and pump capacity. Model 101-1003 is our standard blue crab hauler and the most commonly stocked model. For stone crab we recommend 101-1004 or 101-1005 depending on trap weight. Contact us if you are unsure which model suits your operation.
